Offshore Bonds

Offshore bonds are not dissimilar from onshore bonds, the key difference being that they are operated and maintained by companies with foreign subsidiaries which also manage onshore bonds but do not operate in the United Kingdom.

Offshore bonds are not taxed in the United Kingdom and this allows them to grow at a higher rate.  They are a popular solution for investors who are citizens of the United Kingdom but are living outside the country.  Proceeds from an offshore bond are only taxed when they are brought back into the United Kingdom.  Investors of offshore bonds can receive an income withdrawal from their investment by selling units of the bond.
